Four Expressions of Redemption: How to Study Torah - Va'eira

When we celebrate our freedom at the Passover Seder, we have Four Cups, Four Children and Four Questions. But they all come from the original "four" of the Torah: The Four Expressions of Redemption.

Rabbi Mendel Kaplan is the Spiritual Leader and Executive Director of Chabad Flamingo in Thornhill, Ontario, serving one of Canada’s most dynamic Jewish communities. He also serves as Chaplain of the York Regional Police Service. He is an active member of Toronto’s Vaad HaRabbanim (Council of Orthodox Rabbis), and a voting member of the COR Kashruth Council of Canada’s executive rabbinical board. Rabbi Kaplan is featured regularly on many local television and radio shows. He is a sought after speaker, with hundreds of lectures on Chabad.org. He and his wife, Faygie, are blessed with eight children. Artistically endowed, the rabbi enjoys drawing, sketching and creating charcoal portraits.

Rabbi kaplan is excellant in his presentation His explanation of the Four Cups and their relationship to the four stages of Redemption was wonderful to the ear to hear and the mind to follow. i was happy to see that He explained Rashi's point of fact in this too!.Most enjoyable study. Reply

im waiting every week for my Chabad message that Rav Kaplan is going to give a practical of different meaning of this week Parasha!!!!
this one gave more insights not only about the four cups, four level of Teshuba but the writings of Rashi and "his rules".

Was that that the Egyptians dehumanized the children of Yisrael with their treatment? Not only the labor, by not allowing them to practice their Jewish ideals, taught by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They were deprived of their way of life. The children of Yisrael had to mix by force, with the Egyptian's way of life, thinking, and acting. Maybe that's the reason why they were not "free" in the desert until they learnt to recognize this. Thank you Rabbi Kaolan for such wonderful teaching. When we have Hasshem in us, we are "FREE."
